ReplyDeleteWhoops.. That was supposed to be 2 hearts. Here, I'll do this. I, myself, love my cell phone. <3!
ReplyDeleteI think, unless they (the phones) bug the teacher, it would be the kid's own fault for failing becuase their cell distracted them. Then in that case it should be the parents who need to form the opinion.
ReplyDeleteawwww, wait. It's the kids own fault for not paying attention and getting a low mark. Cuse, it's like... were in high school already were responsible for ourselve. If we want a good job we better do good in school, and if we loose sight of our goals and our cells distract us, we screw ourselves.
ReplyDeletemaybe I'm just going over the top
ReplyDeleteI agree fully with you semba, BUT I think that cell phones are only a distraction when you're using it when you're supposed to be listening to a lecture or lesson, and when you're supposed to be working. One text that can take a maximum of.. a minute? That's not a distraction, in my eyes. If you have the talent, that is being able to text without looking, and can keep your eyes on the teacher AND listen, props to you because it's not easy. If it's being used for a mindless conversation, such as "hey whats up?", it is. Maybe it's just me rambling..
ReplyDeleteyah right... I'd like to see someone pay attention to the lesson and text at the same time, that's doing three things at once, some rare talent. Even a minute is long for a text and, it can add up when your exchanging more than one (which is what your liable to do). If your texting while your working, your not working very much and would get you homework or miss out on a question you might have if your doing it for homework rather than in class.
ReplyDeleteI personally don't really care...
ReplyDeletemostly because I don't have a phone
Wheves
(That means Whatevers btw)
As I don't even have a cell phone, I don't really care what is done about them, but my thoughts on it is that if students will only be distracted from work if they want to be, so if they want to be distracted let them, and also let them all behind. IF they really care about their future, they will learn to be responsible for their actions.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Parsonsc, and Semba08, If hes teaching, dont use them... but if hes not teaching and your just doing your work... I think we are all old enough to have self dicipline.. So texting doesnt really hurt anyone seeing how it takes only a minute to send one...
ReplyDeleteI agree with parsons and beckles!
ReplyDeletebut what if your like tottally loling and the the other persons like tru and then your like rofl and then they're like lol, then your O RLY, and they're like YA RLY. In the end, no one has the courage to say g2g, math class.
ReplyDeleteThen it's more like 40 mins- INFINITY!!!!
LOL! (oops). Totally what I was trying to say! I also love how you don't care (because sooner or later your going to have to care). I wish I didn't have to care, my cell was a gift and is sending me colossal bills!
ReplyDeleteBack to the whole texting and listening thing.. I have mastered it. I'll even prove it to you! And nobody said that everyone has to have a cell phone. They're simply if you want one. It does make things easier, for alot of things in my opinion. The bill is something you choose. If you don't want it, don't get it. I've had one since grade 8 and haven't regreted it at all. Again, personal opinion. Feel free to debate!
ReplyDeleteWe are so gonna start an argument. Ok, so maybe you can text and listen at the same time, but your still not alowed to use it in class (comment on the other post if you want to use it). I'll say it again, my cell was a gift. When your handed a little box with nice paper over it you accept it, little did I know.
ReplyDeleteAre you the one paying the bill? Maybe the gift giver should have rethought their idea of a present if you so obviously didn't want one. I, of course, would love to use it in class. You do learn to restrain yourself if you feel like you need to get something done. If you're on a plan, that's a monthly commitment and it sucks if you don't want it anymore because you have to buy the contract out. If you're on pay as you go (minutes), what's the harm? You buy the minutes when you want them, it's not a requirement. I think if you have a plan, they should have consulted you before you had to take such responsibility for it, whether you wanted to or not. Cell phones are NOT evil!
ReplyDeleteIt's like how GUNS don't kill people, PEOPLE kill people.
ReplyDeleteCell phones aren't really evil, but in the wrong hands they can be used to do evil.
